Being involved in the world of architecture is not only a huge responsibility, it is also extremely exciting. You get to be the one that draws plans for houses, buildings, skyscrapers, and perhaps even bridges. It's always going to be exciting when you are designing things that will shape the lives of individuals all over the world. It takes a lot to get to that point though. There will be many sleepless nights, pouring over homework, and learning your way around AutoCad. The days of drawing your blueprints from scratch are long gone, now we must rely on computer aided drafting and large printers to make our ideas come to life. This really isn't a bad thing, because if you make a mistake in a CAD program it's a lot easier to fix than it would be when working with pencil and paper.

So how exactly do you get a field like this? It's not as hard as some fields, but then again it's not easy either. You're first going to want to go to a reputable college and get yourself enrolled in a degree program. There are actually several different architectural schools located around the United States, and if you want to find one, then all you need to do is go online and either look up for favorite college to see if they offer a program like this, or you can look for a directory. There are a few web directories that provide information on different architectural schools across the United States. These will be a great asset in helping you get on your way.

It is important that you pursue a bachelor's degree and become certified in many areas. Some areas that you are going to want to become proficient in are interior design, landscape architecture, and design studies. These will take a few years to master, but in our opinion the CAD part will probably be the hardest. Seriously, have you ever even looked at that program?

Once you've managed to get your degree in these areas it wouldn't be a bad idea to start moving your way towards the top of the field. It's time to find graduate schools and perhaps go for a higher degree. You could even go so far as to obtain a Master's degree in architecture or even interior design if you so desire.

This is a career that has a lot of potential, in the year 2000 this job was held by 102,000 workers, which honestly is not very many. The salary isn't too bad either, as an average worker in this field might make $52,000 per year, and those who are more experienced may make somewhere near $90,000 per year. So far this field has not shown any signs of slowing down; after all we're always going to need people to design our buildings aren't we?

If you're going to get into a field, make sure that you are getting into one that will always be needed. This is an example of a profession that is simply never going to go away. It may be hard to get into, and the education may be demanding, but in the end it will be quite worth it, don't you agree? Go look online now to see what sort of classes you can take in your area!
