There are so many great buildings and structures in our world. From the renowned Renaissance architects who brought us architecture jobs such as Villa Almerico-Capra by Andrea Palladio, to Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West, there has been tremendous interest in designing great buildings and structures.

Architect jobs have always been around for a long time as evidenced by the cave dwellings high in the mountainous areas that have inspired us to make such cliff dwellings as found in Cuenca, Spain that seem to clutch the sides of mountains and threaten to topple into the ravines below. Or one has but to look at the precariously placed seaside village of Manarola, Cinque Terre in Italy to understand how difficult architect jobs must be!

Wondrous structures such as Stonehenge and the amazing pyramids of Khufu speak of those who held architecture jobs long ago and their work still remains in the 21st century! Would that inspire today's architects aspire to such greatness?

Grandeur is exemplified through such works as the Palace of Minos at Knossos, Crete and Bernini's Piazza Navona found in Rome, Italy with its fountains and the amazing obelisk all of which was carved from stone. Of course one may not speak of grandeur without mentioning The Taj Mahal in India. The master architect Ustad 'Isa, constructed it entirely out of white marble, and today it dazes even architects' minds. It was completed in -1648 Common Era.

It is truly unfortunate that sometimes disasters strike and structures and buildings collapse regardless of how well built or ingeniously constructed they were. It matters not who held the architectural jobs either. Examples are the terrorist attacks on the New York World Trade Center and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. There's also the collapse of the 35W Bridge that was located in Minneapolis. Thankfully when disasters strike, architects band together to reconstruct the areas that suffered damage. For instance, there's the well-known Architecture for Humanity group, and also the Architects Without Borders group.

The Burj Dubai building located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is going to be the world's tallest building when it reaches completion sometime in September 2009. The exact height of the building will only be known at completion, but estimates put it at 2,684 ft. tall even prior to total completion. The architectural jobs for the building went to Adrian Smith as a design architect, who began construction in September 2004. The building will have the most floors in any building on earth, and it will also feature the tallest elevator installation in the world. The engineering challenges of raising this particular skyscraper building have been often reported in various television programs, not the least of which was raising concrete to the dizzying heights with safety.

Some of the greatest structures have been various churches and Cathedrals commissioned by the Roman Catholic Church. For instance there's the renowned Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France whose architect was Maurice de Sully. It was created in French Gothic style, and even though it was constructed in 1163 to 1250 it still stands today as a thoroughly majestic structure.

Westminster Abbey, whose architect is unknown, was constructed in 1045 to circa 1400, and is still the location where the English monarchies are coroneted. Seen from above, the Abbey is in the shape of a cross. It is one of the greatest structures to still be standing and is still used for religious functions. It is world renowned for its architectural jobs and beauty.
