Want to be close to the action?The charter of the Product Enablement team at Storage & Availability Business Unit (SABU) is to work directly with Product Development and Field/Partner organizations to build and help bring to market the next generation of HCI and vSAN product solutions.We're looking for hands-on solutions architects to help us drive vSAN into larger accounts, build a series of solution guides, conduct performance characterization and product interoperability and more. You will help to expand the vSAN’s solutions use cases from traditional business critical applications (Oracle, SQL Server, Exchange, etc) to VMware Cloud, Next-Gen applications, and vertical applications.You'll be directly supporting vSAN Field Sales and Presales in large transactions, as well as working with Product Development and other teams. Besides delivering solutions reference architectures, other activities will include remote support of Proof of Concept (PoC), doing custom integration and automation work, supporting Requests for Product Qualification (RPQs) and more.Our ideal Storage Solutions Architect will be a domain SME of VMware vSAN, and how it interacts with applications, networks, security, etc. You must have a solid engineering background to be able to handle hands-on technical work, as well as excellent skills to interact with customers and field personnel.Skills, personality and motivation are important; location and travel less so.ResponsibilitiesBuild vSAN solution reference architecture, standard methodologies, performance characteristics, and other technical assets to guide field implementation.Provide direct assistance to presales efforts, acting as storage and availability domain SME with vSAN product/feature expertise and comprehensive knowledge of IT enabling technologies in customer deployment scenarios.Work closely with internal peer teams (e.g., product marketing & management, technical marketing, and field teams) and external partners to deliver business-focused solution collaterals.Remotely manage/assist with lengthy and challenging vSAN customer PoCs as needed that could benefit from an ongoing VMware engagement.Develop automation scripts and tools as needed in the context of large vSAN PoCsAssist communication of product capabilities and participate in knowledge transfer events to the field primarily in terms of training-the-trainers.Be an active participant in both VMware internal and external communities (such as VMware Community and VMUG), as well as social media.RequirementsMinimum of 5 years of experience with data storage and related fields (storage management, DR, etc.). Experience in one or multiple following application areas is a plus: Oracle, SQL, Exchange, Next-Gen (e.g., BD, NoSQL), Cloud-Native or Containers.Minimum of 3 years in a Solutions Architect, Corporate Systems Engineer, or Technology Consultant role, with extensive experience in VMware products, solutions, and servicesExtensive hands-on experience dealing with infrastructure solutions.
