JOB SUMMARY: Generate architectural and engineering, designs, correspondence and construction documents for construction and renovation projects.  Provide cost estimates for such projects and for installation of equipment and systems.  Facilitate all projects through coordination of planning and execution of the projects between all involved parties.  Keep records of all projects.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 




 

SELF-DEVELOPMENT
       Continuously improves and upgrades skills to keep up with technology development and 
       workplace changes
       Reviews magazines, journals, trade publications, books and other publications to stay abreast of        the latest technology in the field, or in other related fields.
       Studies manuals for new equipment and software packages as soon as available.
       Learns to operate new equipment, test equipment, tools and/or software as soon as possible              after it is received.
       Develops and practices new or improved production, troubleshooting or design techniques.
       Takes courses of study to increase knowledge of the field, or other related fields.

 



COST CONTROL:
       Acquires and uses resources efficiently.
       Demonstrates knowledge of the financial goals of the department and section.
       Identifies opportunities for cost containment through enhancement of methods or concepts in purchasing and/or use of materials.
       Develops the methods or concepts identified.
       Evaluates information and data gathered to ensure goals are maintained.
       Collects cost data through timely and complete submission of work orders, purchase orders and other pertinent data collection 
       systems.
 
3.    DOCUMENTATION
       Keeps and maintains records which support department operations.
       Ensures complete, accurate and timely information is recorded on work requests
       Maintains purchase request and other financial files in a legible, orderly and timely manner.
       Maintains records to meet requirements of regulating agencies and others.
       Submits maintenance incident and utility management reports whenever required.
  Documents all changes to systems, prints or schematics immediately after they occur.
 

COMMUNICATION:
       Keep users informed or updated on the status of equipment or facilities undergoing repair renovation.
       Follows up on problems after work is completed or transferred to another technician.
       Notifies leaders of situations that are unusual or critical in nature.
       Gives and receives feedback constructively regardless of circumstances.
       Communicates and performs work satisfactorily under stressful conditions.
       Communicates clearly and effectively with a broad range of personalities.
 

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
       Has and practices the necessary skills of the position.
  Produces innovative, practical designs that meet customer needs.
  Produces designs that meet cost objectives.
  Produces structured, logical, accurate cost estimates based on data.
  Maintains a cost estimate database updated by audits of completed projects.
  Develops accurate, charted construction schedules for use in cost estimating and project execution.
  Facilitates the execution of projects by providing necessary coordination between all parties involved; e.g. construction leader, 
  space user, architect, engineer, furniture supplier, project coordinator, etc.
  Maintains all construction documents for historical needs.
 

','!*!MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education: High school diploma, GED, Metropolitan test or equivalent.  Training in computer-aided design using Autocad or other equivalent software.  Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Industrial Design preferred.
 
Experience: At least five years work experience in producing architectural or engineering construction documents with at least two years experience using computer-aided design techniques.
 
Physical Requirements: This job requires, at various times, the following physical activities; climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, and hearing, sometimes exerting in excess of 20-100 pounds of force.
 
The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform daily activities, operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment, and to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
 
The worker is subjected to both outside and inside environmental conditions (including extreme cold and extreme heat), noise sufficient for the worker to have to shout to be heard, vibration, and hazards (including electrical current, high places, and exposure to heat).  Also, frequently in close quarters and exposed to chemicals and infectious diseases.
 
Skills: Must possess in-depth knowledge of schematics and blue prints, able to perform duties using them.
Must possess knowledge of codes and standards applicable to healthcare and business facilities.  Must possess good communication skills.  Must possess in-depth knowledge of PC’s and related equipment.  Must possess excellent computer-aided design skills.','We’re an equal opportunity employer.
