Rafael de Cárdenas / Architecture at Large (RDC/AAL) is a multi-disciplinary practice founded by Rafael de Cárdenas in 2006. Based in New York City and working globally, we provide services within architecture and interiors, art advisory, furniture design and brand development on commercial and residential projects.

The studio environment is casual but serious, dynamic and young, and actively promotes a dialogue of awareness of history and contemporaneity, in popular culture and the world of fine art (and everything in between).

We are currently seeking an Executive Assistant / Studio Coordinator with prior relevant experience.


Highly intelligent, self-motivated, organized, collaborative, effervescent and curious

At least 3 years prior work experience in an architecture firm, design firm, gallery or creative agency

Strong interest, background and/or education in architecture, design, art and/or business

Experience with basic financial/accounting management

Interest in and ability to be the hub of the studio culture

Sophisticated phone manner

Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

Uncompromising attention to detail

Proven ability to follow through and focus under pressure

Exceptional ability to carry out detailed tasks with accuracy and precision

Strong research skills and ability to present information in a clear and usable manner

Deft management of multiple responsibilities simultaneously

A willingness to learn and take direction from others

Bachelor's degree

Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite


Executive/personal assistance to the Principal

Email maintenance for the Principal

Daily scheduling maintenance for the Principal and senior members of the studio

Booking and scheduling international travel arrangements studio-wide in coordination with travel agent

General studio maintenance, cleanliness and upkeep

First point of contact for all visitors and callers

Ordering office and studio supplies

Shipping and receiving

Attending to clients and vendors

Liaising with outside vendors to manage IT systems

Coordination with PR firm to organize and respond to press requests

Management of office expenses, client reimbursable expenses

Support for client invoicing and accounting with Managing Director and Bookkeeper

Maintaining databases, including art collection databases

Researching and planning studio outings and events

Diverse tasks and responsibility in a busy, fast-paced office

Ensuring smooth operations and fostering a supportive studio culture

Reports to and supports the Managing Director

This position provides an exciting opportunity to become an integral member of the studio and help to craft and maintain studio culture. The Executive Assistant / Studio Coordinator will gain invaluable skills and tools in running and managing a creative studio.
