The City of Champaign seeks qualified candidates for a career opportunity as a Neighborhood Programs Manager in the Neighborhood Services Department.
Responsibilities of Position
This position supervises implementation of City programs to address neighborhood needs including housing rehabilitation and home purchase programs, neighborhood redevelopment, and community service activities. The position performs a variety of specialized tasks including program design and implementation, grant administration, project management, compliance monitoring, program evaluation, and community outreach. Work involves considerable contact with citizens through public hearings, neighborhood meetings, community events and community development-related board/committee representation.
Bachelors degree in urban planning, public administration, or related field
Five years progressive work experience in local government, community development, housing, urban planning, social services or related field
An equivalent combination of work experience and education that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered
Minimum of one year of experience with direct staff supervision
Budget preparation experience
Project management experience
Regulatory experience with real estate and community development
Experience writing reports, plans, or policies for internal and external audiences
Ability to attend meetings and events outside of regularly scheduled hours
Valid state issued drivers license and acceptable driving record
Experience delivering services to a diverse population
Experience giving public presentations
Masters Degree in urban planning, public administration, or related field
Drug screening and criminal background check will be required. The annual starting salary range is $76,084 - $86,614, DOQ, plus an excellent fringe benefits package. Applications, including writing sample, must be submitted online no later than Sunday, March 25, 2018.
