Urban Design Manager

As the Urban Design Manager in our Northern California Real Estate Development organization, you are responsible for guiding the design of urban and campus environments that shape the Google of tomorrow. This requires communicating Google’s vision to a wide range of audiences, as well as providing leadership to the teams of architects and designers who bring our projects to life.

We're a team of inquisitive and enthusiastic real estate, construction and facilities operations professionals that are constantly searching for new ways to improve workplace efficiency and make Google a great place to come to work everyday.
Oversee the design and planning of Google’s large scale real estate holdings. Balance long-term vision and strategy with near term goals, bringing to the forefront industry-leading innovation, research, and data.
Address key issues such as district planning, connectivity, resilience, land use, transportation, landscape, habitat restoration, ecology, logistics, community engagement, community benefits and integrative processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and subject matter experts such as Google leadership, Project Executives and our Transportation, Analytics, Operations & Services teams, to align urban/ campus design with Google’s diverse priorities, while leveraging expertise and lessons learned to deliver global projects.
Champion design solutions that respond to Google’s unique culture, provide leadership in developing holistic, innovative solutions that will help us to realize the next generation of real estate development at Google. Lead and manage internal design resources in delivering to this vision.
Build relationships with local jurisdictions and governing agencies to gain understanding of requirements and key issues to effectively represent Google’s interests
Bachelor's degree in Urban Design, Architecture or equivalent practical experience.
10 years of experience in planning, design and project management on urban design projects from initiation through execution.
Master’s degree in Urban Design, Architecture or related field.
Experience in the design or management of large scale, district planning, urban design projects and campus planning.
Experience in working effectively with city agencies. Proven leadership skills and able to build and lead multidisciplinary teams, with and without authority.
Ability to translate ideas and capabilities into unconventional solutions and deliver effective initiatives that exceed expectations and spur market transformation.
Proven vision, leadership and critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize evolving initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented and highly proficient in producing and delivering executive level presentations. Strong executive presence and the ability to read audiences, adapt communication style and delivery of information accordingly.
