JOB SUMMARY

Develop a nationwide Industrial Hygiene (IH) program to support CBRE’s relationships and service offerings, both internally and externally. Create synergies within the ACS Debt, Equity, and NEPA/Telecom silos; intra-company with groups like CBRE PJM, Asset Services, GWS, etc.; and externally with existing and new external clients. The goal is to make a fair profit but also (arguably more importantly) manage CBRE’s risk exposure though proper technical/safety training, records keeping, and loss management

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reviews reports written by others to ensure it meets company and client protocols and accurately describes the asset.

Interacts regularly with client(s) to ensure that goals and objectives are established and achieved.

Develops and implements action plans to correct variances.

Anticipates and responds to the client's needs and concerns.

Manages and leads project management staff in the market and ensures thorough staff understanding and implementation of operations, policies, and procedures.

Business development and expansion of CBRE environmental services portfolio with existing CBRE clients and generation and follow up of new leads to expand IH service line.

Provides technical direction and guidance to staff assigned to projects.

The CIH position oversee the tracking of all (including non-IH) ACS licenses, certifications, and equipment (e.g., RA, PG, RG, PE, Lead, Asbestos, Radon, Mold, HazWaste) using existing CRM platform. This will also allow for identification of opportunities with marketing, SOQ preparation, strategic hiring, and acquisitions

Manages large portfolios of projects.

Oversees the preparation of accurate, timely, and complete reports to the client and company.

Short Term Goals for the First Year.

Lead, asbestos, Radon, and mold surveys

IAQ / IH surveys

Noise surveys

Subcontractor Oversight (for PJM and others)

Regulatory Coordination (for ESA, Phase II, etc.)

OSHA Health and Safety Program Compliance Audits

OSHA Health and Safety Training and Protocols

Industrial Hygiene Air Monitoring

Chemical exposure

Tier II / EPCRA

HazWaste inventory and management

Legionella Bacterial Assessment (requires PE signature)

Biosafety Cabinet, Chemical Fume Hood and Operating Room Filtration Certification

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in architecture or engineering or Bachelors of Science in related physical sciences including, but not limited to Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, etc.

Minimum 10 years commercial building evaluation, commercial design, Industrial Hygiene (IH) or environmental consulting experience with a general understanding of all building systems: site work, structural, building envelope, and MEP. Prior experience in a supervisory position with direct report responsibilities preferred.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Appropriate AHERA (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act) asbestos accreditations, NIOSH accreditations for asbestos analysis and appropriate state licensing as required.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents.

Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues.

Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style.

Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups.

Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.

Ability to effectively present technical information to non-technical clients.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations.

Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions.

Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Advanced knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite Products).

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

The position requires simultaneously managing electronic deliverables for several ongoing assignments.

Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.
