**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is seeking applications for a full-time Director, Construction position for its Office of Physical Plant. The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Office of Physical Plant partners with members of the campus community to provide high quality and cost-effective planning, design, construction management, maintenance, custodial, grounds, event planning and setup services across the 2.3 MM gsf campus. The primary focus of this position is Project Management of Renewal and Renovation projects. The position reports to the Vice President for Facilities.
The Director, Construction will act as a liaison between the University and consultants and contractors and is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering architectural and engineering projects. The primary emphasis is on the renovation and upgrade of existing facilities to support and enhance the living, teaching, and learning environments for the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. community. This person will work closely with other members in the Office of Physical Plant in an integrated manner to ensure project management is provided at a consistent level and departmental goals are met.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Administer advanced project management procedures and systems
Consult with and report to internal customers on a consistent and regular basis to integrate internal concerns and insights into the project plans. This includes the university steering committee.
Coordinate internal departments and external consultants to develop strategies and cost estimates and resolve problems and conflicts.
Provide budget and schedule oversight. Provide alternative strategies to accommodate variances.
Review plans and specifications to insure program requirements and campus standards are met
Compose Request for Proposals for Construction Manager, Architectural, and Engineering Services.
Perform bid analysis and make recommendations
Administer construction activities
Establish and maintain project files and pertinent records; ensure compliance with university, state and federal laws, policies and regulations
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering and a minimum of ten years' experience in the successful management of commercial construction projects of $10 million
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Bluebeam and an overall ability to utilize technology for the management of construction projects
Expertise in Lean construction principles
Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral, and communication skills with professional level writing skills
Demonstrate commitment to quality and quality improvement
Ability to follow all safety, department, system and state policies, procedures and regulations.
University or campus Construction Management experience is desirable;
LEED Accredited Professional
