The Planning and Community Development Department is recruiting for\u00a0a Long Range \u00a0 Planner to join the team responsible for updating and maintaining the City of Redmond Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code in support of the overall vision for the city. We are seeking those who are interested in working in a growing community and want to be part of a dynamic work environment with a focus on teamwork and customer service. \u00a0 The following are some of the position responsibilities; please review the\u00a0Planner classification description for more detail. Essential Functions: Demographics tracking and forecasting Land-use modeling and forecasting Analyze and display tabular and spatial data Research and report on annual statistics Index the City's Development Impact Fees annually Research plats, easements, titles, and other recorded documents Represent the City at certain regional modeling and land-use committees Present before City Council and various boards & commissions Coordinate annexations and municipal boundary adjustments Administer the Transfer of Development Rights Program Conduct policy or land-use studies UPON CLOSER LOOK: Knowledge of and Skill in: Principles and practices of urban design, site design, land use, subdivision, urban planning, community development, and environmental management. Governmental processes and techniques and Federal, State and local regulations and policies with regard to land development, development review, subdivision, community planning, growth management, and environmental management. Methods and techniques of community involvement. Proficiently use\u00a0MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access. Proficiently use\u00a0Esri ArcGIS. Ability to: Operate proficiently in InDesign, Acrobat Professional, or other publishing software. Operate proficiently in SketchUp, Esri 3D Analyst, or other 3D visualization software Experience developing demographic forecasts. Provide excellent customer service. Work independently and as part of a team. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with citizens, the development community, and other City staff. Make effective oral presentations at public hearings and meetings. Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis related to a variety of topics such as land use regulations; development review techniques; and land use, environmental planning. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. Manage multiple projects and meet both short and long range deadlines. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Effectively prioritize and resolve problems. Facilitate public outreach and community development meetings. DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES: Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in urban planning, urban design and development, architecture or related discipline Two\u00a0years of professional experience, with proficiency in Esri ArcGIS and Microsoft Suite Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered Preferred Qualifications: American Institute of Certified Planner (A.I.C.P.) designation Experience developing demographic forecasts Proficiency in InDesign, Acrobat Professional, or other publishing software Proficiency in SketchUp, Esri 3D Analyst, or other 3D visualization software Valid Washington State Driver's License and a driving record that meets city standards FOR MORE INFORMATION: Working Conditions: Work is predominately performed indoors in an office with occasional driving to other locations for meetings. Some time may be spent in the field with general inspection. Attendance at evening meetings is required.\u00a0 Union Membership: Fulfillment of bargaining unit agreement membership is required within 30 days of hire.
