CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Cost Estimator \u2013 MEP to join our Buildings \u2013 CES group in Boston, MA or Brooklyn, NY.
Our Cost Estimating team delivers high-quality, accurate cost consulting services to owners, architects, and construction managers at any stage from conceptual design through construction documents. With expertise in architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical estimating, we identify the implications of design and construction decisions and bring cost certainty to the project.
Our nationwide network of contacts and careful analysis of bid results ensures that we have the most up-to-date information regarding market costs and regional valuation. Our cost estimators take pride in producing estimates that are accurate, prompt, and comprehensive. In addition to basic estimating services, we can advise clients on value management strategies, overall project budget, and project scheduling; assess life-cycle costs; and perform reconciliations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Cost Estimator - MEP is responsible for executing high-quality accurate detailed Cost Estimates. This individual understands clients' needs, meets their expectations, presents the Estimate, and follows up with client on any issues. This individual will collaborate on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client requirements. The Senior Cost Estimator - MEP will have effective and clear communications while interfacing with clients, business partners, management and colleagues. In the role as Team Leader, the Senior Cost Estimator - MEP will provide guidance, mentoring and training to team members. The Senior Cost Estimator - MEP will foster business development and pursue new opportunities.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
B.S. degree in Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience; Quantity Surveying Degree preferred.
LEED certification and/or Sustainable Design standards and requirements is preferred
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 5 years Quantity Surveyor experience preferred
Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
Quantification utilizing On Center On-Screen Takeoff Software from design documents
Familiarity with AutoDesk software is preferred
Advanced knowledge of General Construction industry laws, regulations, policies, and practices
Cost implications of local and national building codes
Knowledge of public and private construction process and procurement
Ability to work independently, and collaboratively interface within a Team
Value management (\u201cvalue engineering\u201d) practices
High level of accuracy in cost estimating, as verified by bid returns
Expert-level ability to read and understand design documents
Ability to complete quantity takeoffs, even with partial information, for all levels of design (including conceptual)
Analysis and reporting of labor productivity, historical cost data, and life-cycle costs
Estimate reconciliation with independent cost estimators and construction manager\u2019s estimators
Ability to track project cost estimates throughout the design process
Broad experience interfacing with clients, potential clients, vendors, and business partners with excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Effective and clear communication in the presentation of information to and response to questions from clients, management, and colleagues
Provide feedback, mentoring, and training to the Cost Estimating team members regarding their work on projects and guide professional skills development
Contribute to building and nurturing our company's culture and team environment
Perform QA/QC functions including scope definition and verification, design constructability, gap analysis, risk exposure.
Participate and help guide the identification pursuit targets for new business and developing opportunities in conjunction with the Marketing and Business Development staff
