Our Chicago office is seeking a Retail Architect/Designer with commercial retail/entertainment complex experience to join our multidisciplinary team.
Your Key Responsibilities
The role of Senior Architect (Commercial Retail/ Entertainment) requires an experienced professional with a command of complex technical and contractual issues present in complex retail/entertainment projects, capable of directing project teams and leading communications with the client and the contractors at the most senior level, during multi-year construction programs.
Directs project team, including consultants and leads communications with the client and contractor during all phases of multi-year commercial retail/entertainment project(s)
Delivers projects efficiently and effectively through inspirational leadership of the architectural team members
Delivers projects on time, on budget, winning recognition for excellence - Presents confident, precise and authoritative advice to the client
Takes a direct, active and engaged role in consultations with client and contractor to address and support the resolution of contractual and technical issues as they arise
Leads communications with and reports to Authorities having Jurisdiction, as required
Directs and is accountable for the deployment of practice technologies to facilitate efficient and reliable management of all project documentation, project financial tracking and contract documentation
Responsible for the overall performance of projects
Responsible for the overall relationship with clients, and monitors client satisfaction
Provides direct supervision of project team members, holds them accountable, and provides timely feedback
Resolves conflict amongst the Project Designer, Project Consultants and is the final decision maker when needed
Directs contract negotiations with clients and consultants and reviews and approves fee proposals as prepared by/ in collaboration with other Stantec Disciplines
Works collaboratively with office and operational leadership to achieve effective staffing which supports the needs of clients and projects as well as appropriately balances the firm’s resources
Responsible for financial performance of projects
Seals contract documents, and signs contracts and proposals
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Experience in a variety of retail, entertainment and commercial buildings will be an asset.
Strong desire to attract top clients and the best projects
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
Positive, solution-oriented attitude
Excellent written and verbal communication
Demonstrated experience in a variety of project types and project delivery methods
Willingness to understand how information is created in Revit
Strong interest in the art of design presentations
Proven technical understanding of building science and construction contracts.
Your Education and Experience
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience as a registered architect (Illinois).
