The Laurel Group Inc. is a well established landscape/build/management firm specializing in sophisticated residential and commercial projects. We have been designing landscapes in the Hamptons and on the North Shore Long Island for 25 years. The designer will work directly with the sales team and project managers in all aspects of the preparation of the project plans and documentation including designing, drafting, estimating and contract writing. This position provides the opportunity for learning, growth and development both personally and professionally.
Perform site analysis that includes the assessment of current plants, soil conditions, lighting, the view, and architecture style of the house.
To gather information from both site work and design sales meeting and create a design that reflects the goals of the client as well as keeping with the standards of The Laurel Group brand.
Create a professional presentation for the Lead Designer/Salesperson to present to the client.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform site analysis that include assessment, photos, field measuring of existing site conditions.
Work with the Lead Designer/Salesperson to create a finished Landscape design with hard and softscape elements
Prepare project estimates which include getting bids from vendors and subcontractors.
Write budgets and contracts with the aid of the estimating program
The ability to communicate well both with clients and other professionals of the industry.
Review plans, proposed changes and any other necessary documents
Prepare and attain permits for jobs, when necessary
Keep records, including everything from correspondence to reports
Education, training, experience
An Associates degree in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Design.
3-5 year's experience with a landscape design/build firm.
Strong Auto CAD and Micros oft Office proficiency. Photoshop a plus.
Strong horticulture and construction/hardscape knowledge a plus.
Must be organized, precise. focused detail oriented.
The ability to work as a team member, strong communication skills.
The ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines.
Work area is in a group environment with a personal work station.
The work week is Monday through Friday but hours of work can vary depending on the season and workload.
You must be able to walk job sites, which may range from construction sites to finished properties.
