The Facilities Planning & Construction (FP&C) department is seeking a qualified Associate Director of Construction Services. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:\rServe as the Senior Project official on major and minor capital construction programs. Provide guidance on the solicitation and selection of Architect, Engineering and construction service related providers;\rReview plans and specifications for accuracy, completeness of data, and compliance with existing codes, standards, and regulatory requirements;\rAssure accurate and timely constructability review to minimize change orders;\rConduct field inspections of work in progress to protect the University’s investment in facility construction and renovation programs;\rAnalyze and direct action on behalf of the university relating to construction process, as relating to requests for information, submittals, change orders, etc. Assist in long range planning activities for the physical development of University facilities;\rManage project development, design and oversight of construction activities for major program. Develop project estimates as requested;\rSolicit procurement of professional consultant services for contractors to facilitate client needs and accomplish university initiatives;\rOversee the accomplishment of major construction projects and implementation of the Master Plan;\rAssure the preparation of complex statements of work; plans and specifications, and solicitation documents and review of the same;\rAssure the preparation of request for proposals, invitation for bids, and related formal solicitation documents;\rServes as the contract administrator/project manager on major and minor construction projects accomplished by contract;\rEstablish job standards for subordinate staff and effectively evaluate direct reports;\rAssure the accuracy of all reporting data and timely submission of all internal Board reporting requirements;\rAssist in the development of policies, procedures, and standards to assure conformance with design criteria and compatibility with existing features;\rEstablish job and material standards to be reviewed and approved by management;\rDevelop metrics to manage department productivity;\rWork collaboratively with other department heads and act as a technical advisor for direct reports;\rManage activities and prioritize provided direction to project managers.\rFor additional information about our department, feel free to visit our website at http://fp.ucf.edu/
Position #:37221\rOpen Date:01/12/2018 \rClosing\rDate:02/08/2018 \rSalary:Negotiable \r\r\rMinimum\rQualifications:\rMaster’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience.\r\r\r\rPreferences:\rBachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or construction management is preferred.\rAble to manage major multi-million construction and renovation programs with limited oversight.\rAble to make and/or recommend informed technical and managerial decisions.\rExperience with permitting, code compliance and local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.\rTechnical writing skills sufficient enough to author contracts, specifications, reports, and general office, university or divisional policies and procedures.\rWorking knowledge of complex and detailed technical contract language.\rThe successful candidate will possess effective verbal and written communication skills; excellent organization skills and the ability to work collaboratively and professionally with a wide range of internal and external customers.\rExcellent computer software skills including MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, etc.\rPreference will be granted to candidate who possess an advanced knowledge of industrial construction, community development, and relevant statistical and research methods.\rAble to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.\r\r\r\r\rSpecial\rConditions:\rPosition requires a valid Class E driver’s license (regular license).
