The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Planner in our Indianapolis, Indiana office.
Develop plans and policies to meet with social economic, and physical needs of communities, including land use transportation planning, transit planning, environmental planning, development, public facilities, and parks and recreational facilities. Directs the technical production of planning assignments and teams. May serve as a Project Manager on a limited basis for select large scale projects. Oversee the work of less experienced staff. Direct, coordinate and review technical work performed by other project team members.
* Coordinates with project manager, project designer and other disciplines on multiple large scale and complex planning, environmental planning, urban design or landscape architectural projects to ensure that the client's technical requirements of projects are fully met. Performs quality checks to ensure client requirements are met.
* Performs various project support tasks where planning involvement is required or requested on major, complex projects.
* Prepares scopes of work, fee proposals and responds to RFP's.
* Responsible for significant portions of presentations and public facilitation
* May review invoices, billings and budgets.
* Assist management with implementation of office-wide technical standards and maintenance of technical resources.
* Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualification Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, Planning, Biology, Ecology, Geology or related field 10 years of related experience RLA, RA, PE registration or AICP, CEP certificationPreferred Qualification/Skills- Strong written and verbal communication skills - 10 years of environmental planning experience required - Master's Degree in Planning or related field - LEED Accredited professional - Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following categories: - INDOT NEPA documentation, including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements - Socioeconomic studies related to NEPA/SEPA documentation - Hazardous materials assessments, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments - Wetland delineations, Section 404/401 permitting, and resource agency coordination - Erosion and sediment control permitting and design - Cultural resources studies and related documentation to meet the requirements of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act - Habitat assessments, including development of analysis and documentation related to threatened and endangered species - Traffic noise analyses to meet the requirements of 23 CFR 772 and/or INDOT's traffic noise analysis procedures - Air quality analyses required to support the federal environmental review process for transportation projects - Development and implementation of public and stakeholder involvement plans for transportation planning studiesGeneral Work Conditions Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
