Posting Information Department Kimmel School of Construction Management Position Summary The College of Engineering and Technology at Western Carolina University (WCU) invites applications and nominations for the tenure track position of Director and Kimmel Distinguished Professor in the Kimmel School of Construction Management (KSCM). We are seeking an innovative and creative leader. The Director reports directly to the Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology and is responsible for administrative, budgetary, and personnel decisions within the school. The Director is a member of the Deans Executive Leadership Council. The successful candidate is expected to advance the vision of the school, supporting the college and university\u2019s strategic directions, while advancing a culture of academic excellence at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The school director is also expected to build close partnerships with Alumni and construction industry partners through the KSCM Industry Advisory Board. The school is accredited by the ACCE. The position is a 12-month appointment. The main campus, in Cullowhee, North Carolina, is located approximately 50 miles southwest of Asheville, North Carolina, a location undergoing significant growth and construction projects. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate a commitment to public engagement through their teaching, service, and scholarship Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position - Relevant experience in construction management education - Innovative and transformative leader in the construction industry - Management experience in the domestic construction industry - Excellent interpersonal and intrapersonal skills for team building and responsible delegation - Proven skills as an effective and visionary leader with competence in administration, scheduling, and fiscal management - Proven track record of working with diverse groups of internal and external constituents - Understanding of Project-based Learning (PBL) approaches Minimum Qualifications Candidates must possess an earned master degree in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineering, architecture\/architectural engineering, or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum of 10 years of progressive domestic construction management experience. The position requires demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication, along with excellent interpersonal skills. Applicants for this position must be able to demonstrate potential for excellence in both teaching and scholarship. Familiarity with ACCE accreditation is highly desirable. Successful candidates will be expected to support the University\u2019s external engagement mission, the application of scholarship through the Boyer Model, and our quality enhancement program (QEP).
