Examples of Work
Approve pay requests from outside consultants and contractors. Review accuracy of drawings and specifications prepared by outside consultants. Supervise construction of new facilities. Supervise renovation projects, make periodic site visits. Prepare budget requests for capital construction, deferred maintenance, life/safety projects. Review and approve change orders. Review and approve final designs for architectural and engineering projects (plans & specs), Review all plans, specifications, and other documents for adherence to DAS procedures and requirements. Accompany 309 Task Force personnel during inspection and verification of funding requests at all NDCS facilities. Inspect all DCS facilities to define and catalog deferred maintenance projects. 
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or construction plus eight years work experience in construction or construction inspection. Extensive work experience in construction business may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

OTHER: Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program. 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: construction practices, terminology techniques, project management, estimating, procurement, change orders, and city, state and federal construction codes and regulations. Ability to: supervise the work of others; communicate verbally and in writing; coordinate projects with others; gain cooperation, read and interpret contracts and working drawings, apply critical thinking and problem solving skills.
