Located at 85 South Maple Avenue in Ridgewood, New Jersey, Ridgewood Orthopedics is a full-service orthopedic medical practice that has been operating for more than 35 years, offering patients access to technologically advanced medical care for back and neck ailments, sports injuries, and bone and arthritis fractures. The project was completed with as little disruption to normal business as possible.
''The renovation to our practice created minimal disruption to our operation and our patients,'' said Terry Leydner, Ridgewood’s business administrator. ''It is a true credit to the work of Poskanzer Skott Architects, as well as JRB Contractors, that they were able to recreate this space amidst normal business hours and not cause us to close our doors at any point due to construction. We are very pleased with the results.''
A full-service architectural design and planning firm functioning since 1972, Poskanzer Skott’s headquarters are in Ridgewood, New Jersey, from where it provides services for the healthcare, municipal/public works, office, industrial, multi-family residential, special needs housing, daycare, education, and retail sectors. The firm also specializes in interior architecture, site and master planning, adaptive reuse, and historical restoration. It also provides such consultant services as geotechnical engineering, mechanical engineering, plumbing and fire protection, landscape architecture, and structural engineering.
Poskanzer Scott has won numerous awards for its designs, including the Beautification Award from the Clifton Economic Development Association and the North Jersey Chamber of Commerce for the Styertowne Shopping Center in Clifton, New Jersey, and the New Jersey Masonry Society of Architects Design Award for outstanding corporate office complexes for Plaza 322 Parsippany.
An upcoming project for Poskanzer Skott Architects includes the adaptive reuse of Ridgewood’s former Fairway Dodge auto dealership into 12,000 square feet of retail space, half of which will be occupied by Coldwell Banker’s local offices while the rest is still being marketed. The design includes new plumbing, heating, electric, and air conditioning systems, along with a new parking lot.
Also upcoming is the firm’s full-building conversion of a former silk mill in Paterson, New Jersey, into a five-story, 48-unit residential building which will be known as Silk City Lofts.
''Silk City Lofts is an extremely unique undertaking, which will convert the entire existing building without any new additions or expansions,'' said Larry Skott, principal of Poskanzer Skott Architects. ''The multi-faceted renovation will include new windows, a dramatic 28-foot lobby, as well as converting the basement into a fitness center and resident services facility. This is one of our most interesting and challenging projects.''
