Everyone out there is looking for a career that is recession proof, a career that can keep the money coming in no matter what happens in the world. While it is true that there are no sure fire jobs that we can be 100 percent sure will survive a poor economic crisis there are some that are likely to last longer and be more in demand as the test of time marches by. One such occupation is that of an architect. No matter what goes on in the world people who have been skilled in the art of architecture are almost always in high demand.

These are the people who are responsible for designing and building everything from simple landscapes to whole cities and practically everything in between. You can rest assured that what ever you stop and look at in a city was designed by an architect of one form or another and was brought to life because of the creative visions of some architect.

I’ll even bet that as a child you were a bit of an architect. Kids love to play around and construct things. When I was a child it was Lincoln logs and erector sets that captured my imaginations. My children moved on to various forms of plastic construction materials for that outlet and children have forever been designing and making things out of paper. This develops into a fun hobby as we get a little older and then some of us move ahead and take that next step which takes the hobby into a full fledged career which we use as a form of income to support ourselves and our families.

The average wages you can expect to earn from a career, as an architect will vary depending on the area of specialty and expertise and the geographic area in which you get your career started. But you can assume you will be well above the fifty thousand dollar range to start and will go well into the hundreds of thousands depending on what you are doing, how well you do it, and how long you continue to do the job.

There is a large amount of education that you have to endure to get into these specialized fields and you will no doubt spend a good portion of your time learning the art of what you are doing and how to apply the knowledge that you obtain into the real word scenarios that you will encounter. However, unlike a lot of other jobs out there you also will be using a lot of creativity to complete most of the jobs. The technical and textbook aspects will give you a good guideline as to where to go, however, the real money and the movement in your career will occur from learning how to take that knowledge and parlay it into something that is unique and in demand.

Just as a songwriter takes a finite number of notes and chords and shapes them into unique melody and structure that become sought after and remembered works of music, you too can take a finite number of architectural components and end up with a one of a kind creation that will stand the test of time. As you can see what started out as a hobby can most decidedly end up as a lifelong satisfying career for you.
