Exploring career opportunities for architecture jobs in Canada can be a rather complex process. Canada is, of course, a rather large country in terms of land mass. That means when you seek Canada architecture jobs, you have a great many provinces in which to explore your potential career options. It would be quite likely that with more opportunities available, you have a greater potential for landing a job.

Thanks to the advent of the internet and its mass media communicative capabilities, the potential to land a job in architecture in Canada is increased. So, let's take a closer look at the process. That way we can determine the best way to land one of these jobs.

A common myth about the architecture profession is that it exists exclusively in urban areas. Granted, there will be a great need for commercial and residential property in major cities. Certainly, there will be more of a need for them by volume than what would be found in rural areas. That said, this does not mean that there is no need for architectural work in Canadian rural areas. A small shopping mall out on the prairie still needs to be effectively designed! To make assumptions that architectural careers are rooted exclusively in the metropolitan regions might not be an accurate assessment.

The development of the internet allows certain positions to be performed in a telecommute basis. This certainly opens many doors that otherwise would have been closed to some professionals. It also spreads the availability of access to such jobs far beyond the traditional "land mass" that most jobs in architecture would previously have been located. Such expansiveness creates a great deal more opportunity for those that otherwise would have been shut out in previous generations.

We are somewhat getting ahead of ourselves here. Prior to landing a great job in architecture in Canada, you need to start somewhere else. This is where education and entry level jobs come into play.

That said, most of the top architecture firms are located in the major metropolitan areas. Those seeking to launch their career in architecture probably would be best served seeking out initial employment in the industry in a major city such as Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, etc. But, you need not assume you need to spend your entire career in such a city. However, do not assume that it is the only option available to you if you wish to take advantage of opportunities elsewhere in the grand country.

Just be sure that no matter where you wish to begin you career, you do so with an effective entry level job. Frequently, it is an entry level job that truly does set the initial stage for your career. How is this so? You could say that your first job is often your formative one. In other words, what you learn most about the industry is attained through your first foot in the door position. Hence, selecting a solid entry level position can be considered one of the top ways that you can effectively land a career of fruitful, productive Canada architecture jobs.

Requirements

Prior to venturing into the realm of entry level jobs, you need to launch your education in architecture. Mostly all top architecture job positions in Canada will require a strong educational background. Many have four year degrees in an architectural major although a two year degree could be effective as well. Now, it is not without question that some have succeeded in the architecture world in positions they achieved through working their way up the ladder and without a formal degree. However, most people do have some form of formal education in a related degree.

Of course, you will need a solid resource where you can find advertisements for excellent jobs that are offered in the industry. A strong online source for architecture jobs on all levels - entry, middle management, and executive management.. Such a resource can prove enormously helpful for those that wish to hang their hat in such an industry in the expansive landscape of Canada. Thankfully, such resources do exist and exploring what they have to offer is highly recommended. Perhaps a future dream job can be found in its listings and ads.
